The 2009 Philadelphia Area Concert Honor Band Northeastern Music Programs, Inc. provides music programs in many private, parochial, and Christian schools in the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey area. Every year we sponsor an honor band of the very best students participating in the band programs at these schools. The honor band consists of approximately 70-80 students. Nearly 2,000 students are eligible to apply, but only the very best make this very special ensemble. We have a great time playing music with a very large and good band! Much of the music is at a high school level and sometimes even at the college or professional level. Students: Your band teacher may not teach you how to play the audition music. The band teacher may teach you how to play a note or rhythm you do not know, but he or she may not instruct you on how to play the entire composition. Accurate rhythms and notes are the most important. You will do better by playing the song slowly and perfectly rather than fast with many mistakes. The range of notes may go higher than you can play. You may still make the honor band if you cannot play the highest note in the song. When you reach a note you cannot play, rest for that rhythmic value and continue playing. GOOD LUCK!
